Shawn H., LVT

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Shawn is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, who before joining the TCVA family, had been working in Emergency and Critical Care, but decided she was ready to join the “day workers” again. Growing up, she always loved animals and was lucky enough that her parents allowed her to have just about every species she wanted to experience. In high-school, Shawn hired in at her first veterinary clinic, and from there she knew that was going to be the career path she would follow. She worked in the field for ten years, then attended Baker College and graduated with high honors from their Veterinary Technician Program. She is licensed both nationally and in the State of Michigan and has now worked a total of 26 years in Veterinary Medicine, still counting.

In addition to working in-clinic, Shawn has also written for vetinfo.com, Veterinary Technician Journal has participated in several drug studies and pilot programs from various veterinary companies, was a Baker College Externship Supervisor, and has served on the Baker College Veterinary Technician Advisory Board for several years. In the future, she hopes to publish a book of her own, on the trials and tribulations of a career in Veterinary Medicine, and how to survive those challenges.
